Who builds this, and why
Monke Reset is an iPhone app that helps you quit porn, built by Makebolt. It is built for day two and day three rather than day ninety. It blocks adult sites and the apps you pick with Apple's Screen Time, gets you through the urge with your own written reasons, counts every urge you beat, and one bad night marks one day rather than the whole month.
Small team, no investors, no ad network. That is why we can tell you the truth about what a phone can stop and what it cannot.
Most apps assume you are calm
They expect you to read the advice, respect the streak and leave the blocker installed. That is not you at 1am on day two. It is why your phone is full of apps you tried once.
We build for the bad night
Every decision assumes you are tired, alone and about to undo it. The block goes somewhere you cannot easily reach, and Help is one tap because two is already too many.
A bad night is one day
Mark it and keep going. Anything that puts you back at zero and attaches a lecture is designing for the day you delete the app, not the day you stop.
Nobody to answer to
No investors, no growth team, no ad network. Nobody to answer to but the people using it.
Four things we won’t do
Every one of these is something a competitor in this category does.
Invent a number
No user counts, no download totals, no ratings we did not earn, no testimonials we wrote ourselves. If a figure is missing from this site, it is because we could not source it.
Promise the impossible
No app on iOS can make a filter unremovable. Anyone claiming it is describing something the system does not allow.
Add a feed
Nobody else is in the app. Whatever you write in it is read by you and by nobody else, so there is nothing to keep up.
Use shame as a mechanic
Guilt is an excellent way to get someone to delete an app and a terrible way to get them to change a habit.
Day oneis tonight.
Write your reasons down now, while it’s quiet. Help keeps them for when it isn’t.
- Blocks adult sites and apps
- Counts the urges you beat
- Stays on your phone
